"Artificial intelligence (..) ha{s] the potential to increase the productivity of the economy (...) but only if they are well managed (...) What I want to emphasize is that it is time to focus on the public-policy issues surrounding" - J. STIGLITZ.
Comments based on my 2018 Research :
During the 2017 summit #AIForGOOD, as well as in the strategic papers of the U.N and some states (F, UK, USA, China), the need for purpose driven policies when it comes to innovation and A.I has been clearly underlined.
This is even a guiding principles of most private-public #partnerships when it comes to use A.I for predictive analytics for advocacy, policies or conflict prevention.
The threats of #AI are also known from the lack of a strong human-rights benchmarks that translate into ethical frameworks - both within corporations and at national level - to the need for unbiased data aggregation processes.
Yet, too often, with still use #AI for an end instead of a mean to an end.
The humanitarian, human-rights and development actors need to be even more united and raise their voice to shape ambitious policies. Let's learn from our mistakes and build a future embodying the U.N. Charter principles for all.
