ABOUT 

Virginie Martins de Nobrega is an international lawyer admitted to the Paris Bar and is an accredited mediator.

International Law, Human Rights & Ethical AI
Specialized in international law and artificial intelligence, she has:

  • Contributed to the “Human Rights by Design & SDG by Design” sub-group of the EU High-Level Expert Group on AI (2018).

  • Authored UN reports on AI’s impact in war zones (Ukraine), detention conditions in Benin, and the alignment of national AI/data frameworks with international and European standards.

Dual Expertise in Litigation & Policy
In litigation, Virginie collaborated to high-stakes and cross-jurisdictionnal financial crime and DPA/CJIP agreements, international sanctions, and European Commission antitrust investigations. She has worked with leading Anglo-Saxon firms and has appeared before French courts up to the Conseil Constitutionnel and international courts.

International Mediation & Tech Diplomacy
A trained negotiator (NSTAA) and judicial mediator (Track I & II), she designs and facilitates mediation processes that integrate cyber-risk analyses and tech diplomacy, achieving over 80 % durable settlement rates.

Thought Leadership & Training
A speaker at 20+ conferences (NYU CIC, HPE European AI Conference, Women in AI, World AI Show, Les Napoléons) and contributor to think tanks (Institut Sapiens, Global Ethical AI Institute), she has shared her insights on AI ethics and governance since 2018. She was also a guest lecturer in conflict resolution at the École de Formation du Barreau (EFB), HEDAC and HEAD Paris.

Institutional Career & Green Governance
Committed to sustainable development since 2004, she collaborated on a CAC 40 company’s Green Initiative Task Force, integrating the Equator Principles and ICF standards into international infrastructure projects. Prior to joining the Paris Bar, she served at the European Commission (Brussels), the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia – international criminal tribunal (ECCC), and as Human Rights Adviser to the UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide (New York), then practiced as an attorney with Reed Smith LLP in Paris.
